AUTUMN SHOW,
SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2024
Our twice-yearly shows are held at the 22nd Scout Centre, Arthur Road, Motspur Park, KT3 6LX. Entries are submitted between 09:00 and 11:00.
Judging commences at 11:15.
The Show opens to the public at 14:30 and cups and certificates are presented at 16:00.
Everyone is welcome, both members and non-members, either to submit entries or just to come and see the exhibits, have a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake, and maybe win something on the tombola.

The RHS Banksian Cup will be awarded to the exhibitor obtaining the
largest total amount of points in the horticultural classes.
Winners in the previous 2 shows are not eligible for this award:

SECTION 1 - CUT FLOWERS
All cut flowers should be presented in a vase of water. You may use cotton wool, tissue, or kitchen roll to support the blooms.
Michaelmas Daisies - 1 stem.
Yellow Daisies – 3 stems.
A vase of mixed daisies - 5 stems.
Dahlias.
Medium decorative (170 - 220mm) three blooms.
Medium cactus or semi cactus (170 – 220mm) three blooms.
Small / miniature decorative (115 -170mm) three blooms.
Small cactus / semi cactus (115 - 170mm) three blooms.
Miniature ball dahlias (52 – 115mm) three blooms.
Pom-Pom dahlias (not exceeding 55mm) three blooms.
A single flowered dahlia – 3 blooms.
Any other dahlia not mentioned above - 1 stem.
A vase of mixed dahlias – 5 stems.
General
Clematis, 2 blooms.
One specimen spike or spray (excluding gladioli & hydrangea).
One specimen bloom (excluding Dahlias or Roses).
Fuchsia, six florets any variety/ies.
Mixed garden flowers – one container (may contain foliage).
A vase of annual flowers – 5 stems.
One stem of gladiolus.
One stem of hydrangea.
A vase of perennials – 5 stems of one variety (e.g., penstemon).
Rose, large flowered, one bloom.
Roses, cluster flowered – two stems.
Roses – mixed 5 stems.
Herbs - 1 cut stem of 3 different kinds - one container.
POT PLANTS.
The size of the container refers to the diameter of the rim of the pot.
Pot plant in bloom – Over 6 inches (15cms).
Pot plant in bloom – Under 6 inches (15cms).
Pot plant foliage – Over 6 inches (15cms).
Pot plant foliage – Under 6 inches (15cms).
Cactus / Succulent – Over 6 inches (15cms).
Cactus / Succulent – Under 6 inches (15cms).
A 12” hanging basket – to be displayed on an upturned flowerpot (a hanging rail is usually available).
SECTION 2 – FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.
FRUIT.
All fruit should be presented on a plate. Most fruit should be shown with stalks attached. Please see ‘Hints’ for clarification.
Apples, dessert, one variety – 3.
Apples, culinary, one variety – 3.
Blackberries – 9.
Any other fruit, one variety.
VEGETABLES.
All entries to be presented on plates or similar. Root crops are better shown with tops on, trimmed to about 3 inches (75mm).
Tomatoes should be shown with the calyx attached.
Onions should be presented sitting on a cardboard ring not on sand. Potatoes should be shallow eyed and free from blemishes.
Beetroots – 3.
Radish – 5.
Carrots – 3.
Runner Beans – 5.
French Beans (climbing or dwarf) – 5.
Potatoes – 5.
Onions, 5 under 8oz (225gms).
Onions, 5 over 8oz (225gms).
Shallots, 5, approx. 1” (2.5cms) in girth.
Courgettes – 3, not to exceed 6” (15cm).
A marrow.
Tomatoes – 3 plum tomatoes.
Tomatoes – 5 salad tomatoes.
Tomatoes – 1 truss to include at least 3 ripe fruit.
Tomatoes – 5 miniature.
Tomatoes - 3 beefsteak.
Any kind of vegetable not included above.
A basket/trug containing 3 different vegetables.
An odd-looking vegetable.
SECTION 3 - FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS
Materials and blooms may be purchased for this section. Dimensions are for width, depth and height. Please note that floral oasis is no longer permitted. Please see the ‘Hints’ page for more ideas.
An arrangement in a box - fresh plant material, 4” (10cms) space.
An arrangement for a Christmas table to include a candle - fresh plant material and accessories allowed - 24” (60cms) space.
A flower arrangement ‘Britain in Bloom’ – fresh plant material and accessories allowed, 24” (60cms) space.
A floating arrangement of flowers in a container not exceeding 12” (30cms).
A dried flower arrangement - accessories allowed, 24” (60cms) space.
SECTION 4 – CRAFTS.
Items in this section should not have been exhibited in a previous show.
Photographs should be unmounted.
A hanging Christmas tree decoration.
An animal fashioned from a fruit or vegetable.
An item made from felt.
A photograph – ‘A pub sign’ – maximum size 7” x 5”.
4 photographs of - ‘Atmospheric Skies’ – maximum size 7” x 5”.
A photograph – ‘A Wheel’ - maximum size 7” x 5”.
SECTION 5 - DOMESTIC CLASSES.
All cakes etc to be presented on plates (doilies are optional) and covered with clingfilm where appropriate or covered with a clear plastic lid if the icing/decoration would be spoilt by clingfilm. Chutneys and jams should be in glass jars with a waxed disc covering the surface of the contents, then covered with a cellophane disc held in place with an elastic band. Jars should be labelled with the month and year of making.

An Italian style bread - made by hand.
A portion of potato salad.
Men only - An Upside-Down Cake.

SECTION 6 - JUNIOR CLASSES 8 YEARS AND UNDER.
Olympic Theme 2024.
All entries must be the child’s own work.

An A4 collage of an Olympic sport.

Cake(s) to look like a bicycle.
SECTION 7 - JUNIOR CLASSES - 9 - 11 years.
